Climate

      Shanghai is a northern subtropical monsoon climate, four distinct seasons, sufficient sunshine, abundant rainfall. Shanghai climate mild and humid, extreme maximum temperature of 40.2 ℃, extreme minimum temperature of -12.1 ℃. Spring city short, summer and winter long. 2006 average temperature of 18.4 ℃, sunshine 1638.2 hours, precipitation 1042.6 millimeters. About 70% of annual rainfall concentrated in the flood season from May to September.

Area

       In 1949, Shanghai's total land area of only 636 square kilometers.
